Did you know you can view Facebook, Twitter, or just about any web page directly within your Bria desktop softphone? It’s true. And adding them to Bria is easy!
Here’s how.
Step 1: From the main toolbar, select Softphone > Preferences
Step 2: Within the Preferences window, select Advanced from the menu on the left.
Under Web Page Tabs, add the web address for the page you’d like to access within Bria. Note, if there is a mobile page available for your preferred website, use that. Click the arrow to enable the page.
e.g. http://touch.facebook.com or http://m.twitter.com.
Step 3: From the main toolbar, select View > Show Facebook. (Note – the name of the page will be whatever you entered into the ‘Name’ field in the Preferences window).
Step 4: Ta-da! You will now see a new tab within your Bria softphone called ‘Facebook’.
You can also pop it out into a separate window by clicking on the button:
Below we’ve followed the steps above to create a tab for Twitter, and popped it out into its own window:
Voilà!
So why would you want to do this, anyway? (Other than showing your colleagues how savvy you are, naturally.) If there are web pages that you access multiple times a day, integrating them into Bria saves yourself having to go to your browser each time. This is especially handy if you’re like me and you’re using your Bria all day long anyway to make voice calls, send IM and participate in video conferences.
Hope you enjoyed this little tip. Happy VoIPing!
